ABATE of Alaska is not an M/C or riding club. ABATE is a non-profit dedicated to serving the comunity and esspecially the motorcyclist in the community. ABATE hopes to better the community through education and training and to protect the comunity through our legislative work to promote basic freedoms. Freedoms such as the right to repair, the right to choose to wear a helmet, the right to purchase insurance both medical and automotive.

Plus we just like to get together and have a good time.

 I regret to inform everyone that the VFW Post 9981 has had to close it’s doors due to the unstable economic times. ABATE wishes them well and hopes that they will find a new home soon.

This is our annual election for your 2010 officers and board members. If you haven’t mailed your ballots back then this would be the night to bring them in. We will collect ballots at the opening of the meeting and our tabulation committee will take charge of them and do our count. When they are done we will announce next years ABATE volunteers to keep this fine organization on track.

I hope to see all our members and interested parties at this meeting.

This is it, our election meeting for 2010 officers and board members. Ballots have been mailed out to all PAID members. Ballots can be mailed back in the self addressed return envelopes or dropped off at Alaska Leather on the corner of Minnesota and Spenard. You may also bring your ballot in person to the meeting. All ballots must be sealed in an envelope with your name and membership number on the envelope. One ballot per envelope. NO exceptions. Mailed and dropped of ballots will be picked up on Thursday at 5pm before the meeting. Ballots brought to the meeting must be there by 7pm as the tally committee will count votes while the meeting is under way.

Join us Wednesday, August 26th, for Fun and Laughs at the Wild Berry Theater at our live taping of the Big Alaska Show!  It’s Free!  There’s good food, beer, wine and soft drinks you can into the theater.

Our featured guest is Barb Smart- owner and president of Alaska Leather and Motor Cycle Apparel.  Barb will join us as we honor ABATE.

Also, joining us is Mike Ferris- a true life Deadliest Catch kind of dude!  He doesn’t watch it – Mike lives it!

We’ll show a local biker short movie and the BIG SCREEN at the Wild Berry and plenty of chances for prizes … But remember, we’re eligible to win our own prizes!

The AMCDA motorcycle show will be this weekend starting on Saturday (10AM-7PM), March 29th and ending on Sunday (12PM-6PM), March 30th. Admition is $7.00 at the door (The Eagan Center in Down-Town Anchorage). Come check-out the pimped bikes that people have been working on all winter. While you are there, sign-up for a motorcycle training/awareness class at the A.B.A.T.E booth. They have beginning and advanced rider cources.
